The British Society of Echocardiography’s EchoCalc app has a lot of useful information from a reputable source. Unfortunately, this information is buried within an excessively complex user interface making it cumbersome to use in clinical practice.
While this app has an impressive breadth and depth, its poor organization and design limits it utility to clinicians and students.
Echo Lab is an outstanding resource for anyone who interprets echocardiograms. It is additionally an excellent example of a well-designed clinical decision support tool for anyone interested in designing resources for other niche areas of medicine.
The app contains a lot of great information for folks learning to read echo’s or who need a quick reference. Its design, however, falls short. At $9.99, I would have expected more.
