Scripps Transplant

The Scripps Center for Transplantation designed this app to enable physicians to efficiently refer new patients to the Center. Referring providers can connect directly with the transplantation team via the app to request a patient consult. Additionally, this resource also contains several educational features like CME credits include kidney, liver, and pancreatic transplantation. There is also information on bone marrow and stem cell transplantation and CAR-T. Program-specific outcomes, publications, and clinical trials can be accessed and shared. A transplant team directory is also housed within the easy-to-navigate app.

HAMILTON-C6 Simulation

The HAMILTON-C6 critical care ventilator simulation app provides a fully simulated ventilator, including all standard controls, alarms, and ventilation modes. Monitoring values are displayed in real time with an adjustable physiological patient model. Educators and students can study, collect data, and then select interventions for patients who are breathing normally or experiencing COPD or ARDS. Data curves and parameters, including transpulmonary pressure, create an excellent visual for teaching, especially on the iPad.

APOP Screener

The APOP screener is available on iOS and Android devices this week. This app is designed to identify at-risk elderly patients upon admission to the emergency department. In addition to having a greater probability of admission, older patients also have a higher risk of undesirable outcomes in the emergency department. Undesirable outcomes include death, injury, and loss of function. By identifying high-risk patients upon admission, department staff can allocate resources differently in order to mitigate this risk. The screening consists of only nine questions and could be administered by the triaging provider. The results enumerate the risk of functional decline or death within three months and illuminate any signs of impaired cognition. Additionally, the app contains training videos on using the screening tool, initiating appropriate interventions, and transferring patient care safely. Data collected during the screening process is not stored within the app.
