We recently reviewed the outstanding OB Wheels app, by Dr. Joshua Steinberg, one of the most well-known and prolific medical-app developers and also a family medicine physician. But Dr. Émilie Coudière also created an excellent OB wheel app called Prego Wheel. It’s very basic but useful.

My go-to OB wheel remains OB Wheels by Dr. Steinberg or the outstanding Perfect OB Tracker by Dr. Evan Schoenberg due to their added functionality regarding correcting EDD for sonography data and/or patient tracking functions. For some providers, Prego Wheel may just be what the doctor ordered — a basic, free OB wheel.

You are about to go into the room and need to calculate how far along the patient’s pregnancy is as of today’s date based on the patient’s LMP. How many weeks is she today? Prego Wheel is designed by a family medicine physician who practices continuity obstetrics. The app lacks any information about the source of its calculator such as ACOG. It lacks any advanced functionality or references, but — per information from the developer’s website — this was by design. The app is intended to be a fast, accurate OB wheel for use at the point of care.

Students, residents, mid-levels, family medicine, midwives, ob/gyn and any provider who performs obstetrics.

But the app does what it is supposed to do, nothing more, and works flawlessly.
