MyHeart Counts: Cardiovascular Disease by Stanford Medicine
MyHeart Counts is looking at the relationship between behavioral factors, like fitness, and cardiovascular disease risk. Participants provide data periodically through surveys delivered to their iPhones as well as data on their blood pressure, cholesterol levels, physical activity using either the phone’s accelerometer or HealthKit-enabled wearables, and fitness through a six-minute walk test. They are given information on their cardiovascular disease risk including a “heart age” as well as educational material on how to reduce their risk. They also plan to test different strategies to improve physical activity and fitness.
