The ICD-10 era is upon us so I wanted to look at various ICD 10 apps to recommend for health providers and those doing specific coding as well. First, I was shocked to see so many poorly made ICD-9 and ICD -10 apps. Most of the apps I downloaded were nowhere close to functional. Surprisingly, the apps that actually cost money were not that great. I did find four great apps and they all happened to be free. I focused on apps that also included ICD-9 to ICD-10 conversion as that’s an essential function for those used to ICD-9.

MTBC ICD 9-10

MTBC’s free ICD 9-10 app enables you to narrow your search based on your specialty and chief complaint. The specialty specific tags are done pretty well. For example, if you select pediatrics, with one click you’ll be able to see the codes of Otitis Media and Acute Pharyngitis.
