Unlike Jawbone — who has promised to integrate their devices with all and every platform they can — Android Wear has decided they will not allow their devices to sync health data into Apple’s HealthKit app. This is similar to Fitbit’s decision to make their health data a silo as well.
I would expect this type of move from Apple, but not Google — a company that prides itself on being “open”. If anything this dissuades iOS users from using Android Wear devices.
From a health perspective, it shows how more silos are being built up and patients are having less of an ability to transfer their health data easily from devices and platforms. We have written before on the dangers of health data mining and who actually controls patient self reported data, and this only propagates those concerns.
