The Intern 911 Pearls app was developed by Dr. Shaminder Gupta and Dr. Claude Pirtle as a way for medical students and interns to learn important pearls for patient care. The app was made to provide flashcard format information for students and interns to study as well as test themselves. There are also supposed to be monthly updates with at least 10 new pearls per month.

User Interface:
The app has a very easy-to-use interface making it very user friendly. The app opens with a screen that shows a list of categories that are covered within the app as well as the number of pearls within those categories. Currently the app only has 100 pearls, the majority being in the Internal Medicine and Nephrology categories. There are only 5 categories total as seen below.

When the user selects a category they have the option to study the pearls or shuffle them and test themselves.

Because this app only has a few pearls in most categories, the shuffle and test modes are not very useful. The study option displays the prompt at the top of the card and the answer within the card. The shuffle mode provides a prompt with a question and then the user can reveal the answer by clicking on the card.

Due to the lack of content currently available on the app, it has very limited use. The app also includes many abbreviations within the cards which, although likely understood by the target population of this app, should be explained somewhere within the cards.

Healthcare workers that would benefit from the app:
Any medical student or intern could potentially benefit, but the app isn’t worth downloading.

The Intern 911 Pearls app was developed to be used by medical students and junior residents to learn the most important facts in patient care. Currently, the app has very limited real world application due to the limited content. The producers also promise 10 new pearls a week which makes it seem that it will take a very long time for this app to be worth the time or money.
