Another long time favorite of ours has been the Decide series from Orca Health. Heart Decide is an app designed to facilitate discussions with patients about cardiovascular disease. Included in the app is a 3D model of the heart that includes the major coronary arteries; there are also transverse and coronal cuts to visualize internal anatomy like valves and chordae as well.
Next, there are several videos on a range of cardiovascular diseases like angina, atrial fibrillation, mitral valve prolapse and more. Typically around 2 minutes in length, these narrated videos were developed in conjunction with cardiologist from the Harvard Medical School.
Finally, there are shorter, non-narrated videos that go through a variety of cardiac procedures like a valvuloplasty and bypass surgery. These videos seem best used in conjunction with an explanation being given by the cardiologist and work best if you’ve practiced your spiel a few times. You also have the ability to stop on specific frames in the videos and add free form drawings or notes. Sharing content, including the narrated videos, with patients requires a subscription that costs $20/month or $200/year.
