Dr. Topol is a highly accomplished academic physician. He attended medical school at the University of Rochester and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by a cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Today he is a prominent cardiologist and geneticist.
He is also a co-founder of the West Wireless Health Institute. He recently authored a book, The Creative Destruction of Medicine: How the Digital Revolution Will Create Better Healthcare. Modern Healthcare has named him #1 Most Influential Physician Executive in Healthcare, 2012.
Currently, he is the director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute, the Chief Academic Officer for Scripps Health, and a Professor of Translational Genomics at the Scripps Research Institute.
