Catapult Chicago exists somewhere in between an accelerator and a shared office space.

Located in the coveted River North neighborhood of Chicago, the not-for-profit group uses a peer admission process, not unlike a secret society, to help early-stage startups work together to overcome the barriers that often derail good ideas from becoming good businesses.

With its second class of startups, Catapult has added its first health technology startup, Procured Health, which helps hospitals discover, evaluate and adopt high-value medical devices. Procured Health was a member of the inaugural group of startups launched by the Blueprint Health digital accelerator in NYC. Having attended Blueprint’s demo day, I can say in my opinion Procured Health was the most impressive of the nine Blueprint companies from a business model perspective.

It will be very interesting to see how the company grows into its very big idea. Taking up residency at Catapult Chicago is one big step in the right direction.
