As seen here, each case scenario begins with a patient presentation. Users have limited time to read the case, with a timing bar present along the right side of the screen.
Each case then proceeds to 5 rapid-fire multiple-choice questions related to the differential diagnosis, physical examination, diagnostic investigations, and/or management of the patient. For each question, the timer bar along the right provides an incentive to move quickly through the questions of the case.
After completing all of the questions sequentially pertaining to each case, the results are displayed for the particular case. Users can click “Reveal” for a concise explanation of an answer. A quick review of the various questions and explanations suggests that the medical information in the app appears well-authored and factually accurate.
Practicing is another option in the Ward Round App, where users can partake in a “practice round” by taking on 5 randomly selected cases, instead of selecting cases from a specialty.
