This is really exciting news for medical educators. Developers for iOS4 (iPhone, iPad operating system), will soon be able to give up to a 50% discount on apps bought in bulk by educational institutions.

Why does this matter? Because at iMedicalApps we’ve received numerous requests by medical institutions who have inquired about this feature. We have responded to these educators by telling them bulk discounts are not currently available for iPhone and iPad apps – this is no longer the case.

This couldn’t have come at a better time. The Stanford School of Medicine and the University of California Irvine School of medicine are giving iPads to all their incoming medical students – now these med schools should be able to pre-load more medical apps on the devices for their students – or at least be more enticed to.

Even if a school isn’t giving an iOS 4 device to their students, they should still be able to benefit by giving their students the option to have discounted ECG education apps, anatomy apps, and much more.
