Purpose of App Review

To draw attention to the VisualDx app now available for Android devices and to highlight some key features of the app that may enhance the patient diagnosis process on the job for many clinicians.

Introduction

The VisualDx app contains several images for the same condition, unlike some of its competitors.

Users are able to see a broader visual representation of the disease or condition from many different patients, allowing them to make more informed and confident decisions about an accurate diagnosis.

VisualDx works best as a helpful aid when diagnosing visual or dermatologic conditions.

The app allows both individual subscribers and institutional members full access to the VisualDx database. Specific instructions for institutional subscribers is straight forward and consists of a short online form followed by a username and password delivered via email.

User Interface

The functionality of VisualDx is both intuitive and seamless from one section to another. The option of building a differential diagnosis is hierarchically layered in an understandable way, with no confusion on where to go next in the process or what to tap in order to get to the information desired.

Aside from the differential diagnosis builder, there is a simple diagnosis look up function where users can search for visuals of a dermatological condition and get a brief synopsis, therapy, test information, differential diagnosis, and also warning signs to look for.

These are displayed as headings when a user chooses a specific condition and are also shown as a hyperlinked table of contents. Users can easily skip through undesired content by tapping on the heading they want using the table of contents feature.

Evidence to Support Use

Teledermatology is a budding field, as is all of telemedicine, and VisualDx is just one aid that progresses this new industry. Photos of dermatological images can be shared with colleagues and compared to already existing photo evidence to allow for a more swift and accurate patient diagnosis [1].
