MedCalc App Review (v1.2)
MedCalc is a free medical calculator. It helps you calculate a litany of different medical formulas and has some other helpful features. Some of these features are the pregnancy wheel, dermatome map, eye chart, and growth velocity. Let me make this clear right now, I think you should definitely try this app before you pay for one of the other medical calculators out there. I’ve tried some of paid medical calculators (MediMath Medical Calculator and Medical Calculator) and didn’t find them as user friendly or as fun to use as MedCalc. In this review I’ll discuss the features that MedCalc provides.
Medical Spanish (1.2) [App Review ]
We have an updated review of this application highlighting it’s new features. The review can be found here.
Medical Spanish is an app that helps you communicate with Spanish speaking patients in a health care setting. The app has a very detailed description in the App store, so I won’t get into the “nitty gritty”, but instead I’ll focus on the usefulness of the app. I’ll touch on this later, but you can use this app even if you do not know a single word of Spanish. (Scroll below after the conclusion section for a more detailed review of the App).
Speed Muscles MD (1.1) [App Review]
Speed Muscles MD is an app that helps you practice and memorize muscle anatomy. It provides a way to rapidly review the muscles in an entertaining fashion. It can actually be played as a game, which I thought was a nice twist. This review will cover the features of this medical application.
ReachMD CME (1.0) [App Review]
Diagnosaurus DDx (1.3) [App Review]
Diagnosaurus is an app that you might be familiar with if your hospital / medical school uses Access Medicine. It’s on the homepage the Access Medicine portal.
Diagnosaurus helps you form a differential diagnosis (it helps you come up with a list of possible diseases or causes based on vague to specific symptoms). This is key to note, because I found many people reviewing this app in the app store complaining that it doesn’t help you make a diagnosis. That is not the purpose of this app. It only helps you “start” the process of formulating a differential. In this review we’ll discuss how to use this application.
